I’m tired of seeing nothing but disasters and war on TV.
Speaking of cars…check this out: Excess
Waste not, want not….
Anywho…
I just want to sit here in my tiny bubble and watch kitty videos and videos of soldiers coming home and surprising their dogs and kids.
I don’t like watching the videos of them surprising their family by showing up on an airport tarmac draped beneath an American flag made in India.
When the earth moves in far countries and people are dying in droves, the TV thankfully removes the reality, the stench of fear and destruction that accompanies a violent act of nature.
Act of nature….
I don’t think its an act, anymore….
I think she’s starting to get serious….you know, life imitating art and all that…….
….or death.
I tend to write on religion or the concept of religion on Sundays for some reason….
I guess the coverage on the Nepal earthquake’s, the volcano erupting in Chile’ got me to thinking.
“Man, it seems like everything is freaking out lately…”
So, I looked, and beheld the world…Current Eruptions
Sometimes I wish we didn’t have instant news.
Daniel 12:4 …’even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.’
It’s a book….about yay big and whispers when you flip the gold edged pages, and it smells like….heaven
Yes, its good for some instances but, my ignorance can be a pretty quiet and restful place.
I hear about people on the earth starving to death, I mean I’ve never actually met a starving person. In my experience amongst members of my own nation starving is tantamount to having to drive to the McDonalds down the street or waiting a little longer by driving to the Wendys just across town.
I see starvation on the TV and internet.
I know it can’t be real. People would never let other people starve….would they?
In the really real world, I see spoiled fat people complain about too much salt and too few onions…
“I know people in Africa that would kill you for your salt and onion”
Hell, I know people in New Orleans that’ll kill ya for your shoes.
Matthew 24:7 …’and there shall be famine.’
Doesn’t mean I wanna know its real.
I hear about extremists killing Christians.
I hear about Christians killing gay people and black people….
Muslims killing Muslims.
Christian killing Christian…
Neighbors killing everyone in their neighborhood….
Doesn’t mean it’s real, it’s just on TV.
Matthew 24:9-10 …’Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.’
Doesn’t mean I wanna tell everyone that I would die for my beliefs.
Thank God Chrisitians don’t have suicide bombers. Thank God we consider suicide a crime…
Wait…I just thought of something….isn’t martyrdom suicide….technically.
Chrisitians love martyrs, extremists love martyrs.
So, which martyrs actually get into paradise, then?
I guess I’ve lived as a man for too long amongst other men that I have lost the ability to accept promises as unbreakable.
It’s sad when you’ve become jaded from life, whereas you believe in God but, not believe that any of his mansions or redemption will ever actually happen.
I mean, come on…
All the mansions are in Hollywood and Scottsdale, don’t you know.
I hear about earthquakes, tornadoes, volcanos and flood….and an ocassional tsunami or typhoon.
I’ve been in a flood.
There were caskets floating down the street.
A sky blue casket floating in muddy water past a drug store with “Sundries” on a sign in the window.
Unfortunately, that was real.
I don’t think I was in my bubble that day.
Like I said, all the rest of the disasters I’ve listed above only happen on TV to other people in places that I’ve never heard of or will probably never see unless they come up on Google Earth.
I tend to be a little distrustful in the existence of other places until I see them in National Geographic.
Matthew 24:7 …’and earthquakes in divers places.’
Organizations tell me to send them money and save the children. I’m the only one that can.
I have to feed myself. I have to feed my family.
I have to pay the light bill, gas bill, car payment, car insurance, medical insurance, medical bills, grocery bills, ad infinitum
Who am I to save the world or make the slightest difference on anything in the grand plan?
I am just one man amidst billions…
Luke 21:25-26 …’and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.’
I have a name.
It was given to me by my father, a man also.
His father gave him his name and so on, before.
The name God gave me was forgotten when I became alive in the world.
I have a name, I am a number.
Revelation 13:17 …’And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.’
Oh….The TV says that we are killing off all the animals and fishes.
The Bible says we will do so….eventually.
Hosea 4:3 …’Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.’
It seems like the harder we struggle for peace, the more blood it causes.
You do know that all of the turmoil in the world is caused by just a few men, right?
Ask anybody walking down the street or standing in a field of crops “What do you want out of life?”
“Good job, good family, health and a good crop”
They never say “War”……weird.
Oh, heads up. i just got this off the internet: Pharmaceutical companies, car companies and global utility interest are killing some of us off because x-amount of people have to die at a certain rate every year so that the rest of us don’t run out of food too soon.
It’s not personal…it’s business.
Survival of the species and all that.
Ain’t it weird that we’ve only had cars and airplanes for just over one hundred years and TV for less than 70 or cell phones for less than 20….?
1 Thessalonians 5:3 …’For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.’
What if the Bible is only a scare tactic?
I am positive that society would not have even been a society without the fear of God and his justice and the moral compass that the Bible contains.
But, like all great books, some people took it too literally and believed they were the only ones that truly understood it.
They forget that the Bible was written by men.
Truly, I know that it is an inspired book, nay, I know it is a holy tome.
But, they also say that
I mean, the Gutenburg Bible was printed in the 1450’s and introduced printed books to the western world, so what did they do before that?
Word of mouth?
Papyrus?
Heiroglyphics?
Adventure seekers on ships?
Guys on ponies hauling the mail?

Check this out:
The Bible, ~5 to 6 billion
Quotations from Chairman Mao Zedong, Mao Zedong, 900 million
The Qur’an, 800 million
Xinhua Zidian, 400 million
Book of Common Prayer, Thomas Cranmer, unknown
Pilgrim’s Progress, John Bunyan, unknown
Foxe’s Book of Martyrs, John Foxe, unknown
Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith, Jr., 120 million
Harry Potter Book 1, J.K. Rowling, 107 million
And Then There Were None, Agatha Christie, 100 million
Most of these were considered inspired.
Hell, I consider Don Quixote’ and Dante’s inferno to be inspired “works of art”
So….what’s real?
What we see?
What we hear?
“Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in him no fault at all.”
I’ll leave you with this last quote because the more I think on the world and our trials as a species and attempt to keep my words unmuddled and unbiased it gets harder and harder to hide the fact that I am not a computer generated blogging entity.
I can’t hide my fears and inadequacies any longer without the mask of indifference or total lack of concern.
“All truth passes through three stages. First, it is ridiculed. Second, it is violently opposed. Third, it is accepted as being self-evident.” (self serving)
